The Boy Who Bakes

It still feels a bit surreal to say this but in just 3 days my book, The Boy Who Bakes, will be be hitting bookshop shelves across the country, and will even be in shops around the world in countries as far away as Australia!! It has been such an amazing experience writing this book, I can’t wait for everyone to see it – I really am very proud of it. There is very nice broad mix of recipes from delicious but simple cookies to slightly more advanced triple layer cakes, with a smattering of desserts, pastry and ice creams in between.

I really hope everyone who buys a copy enjoys baking from it and I’d love you to post pictures of your baking on my Facebook page).

It only seems like weeks ago that I signed my contract and started work on the recipes but it was actually almost a year ago, back in December of 2010. For months my life followed a basic pattern of bake, taste, write, bake, taste, write over and over until the day was up. Spending my day coming up with new recipes was the stuff I dreamed off, a creative outlet was what I had been looking for – I was so thrilled to be doing what I loved.

As I started the process I moved to London and if it wasn’t for friends, and especially my boyfriend, I wouldn’t have eaten a proper meal for months. Spending my days testing recipes meant I never really wanted to get back in the kitchen and cook, or eat for the matter. I actually didn’t cook myself a meal the whole first month of recipe testing.

One of my favourite parts of the whole process was the photography. I was very lucky to have an amazing team on the photoshoots including a wonderful photographer called Yuki Sugiura, who has helped create a gorgeous book. We shot the images over 11 days and seeing the book come to life in front of me was thrilling!

Thanks to everyone who helped me put this book together and to everyone who reads this site, your continued support means a lot :) If you’d like to get your hands on a copy you can order the book from Amazon.
Happy Baking!
